A Box of Chocolates
An interesting thing happened to me over the winter, the scope of which I am only really having time now to muse about. As some of you may already know, at the end of the 2024, I was appointed by our traditional leaders to serve as Lieutenant Governor for Cochiti Pueblo for 2025. It is huge honor and a tremendous responsibility. It is something that requires all of one’s attention, energy, and prayers. A life changer, to say the least. I firmly believe that at this point in time, the spirits called my name to fulfill this role to help the pueblo, the land, and the people. Two months in, it has been everything what anyone would think a sovereign nation tribal leader would be, and much more.
As a result of all of this, my art career for this year is going to have to take a little pause. I will be unable to make The Heard Guild Indian Fair and Market. However, I still have plans to participate in the Santa Fe Indian Market, and oddly enough, I have been experiencing overwhelming urges of creativity. I can’t sketch them fast enough, it seems sometimes. In the meantime, please be safe and take care.
